One of the newest additions to our family is a concept store with distinctive style, where our wide customer base can find a carefully curated choice of gifts and hand-picked selection of books. We live in times where we're surrounded by a myriad of things and yet, we do not need much at all. However, we think there is never too much fun and this is what we want to do – make your day a bit better and that’s why we have created a new space where there is more room for (sometimes totally impractical) beauty.

The shop Rahva Raamat has been operating in a dignified and beautiful house on Pärnu mnt 10 in Tallinn for more than 100 years. In 2019, we decided to give it a major overhaul. Just like "Alice in Wonderland" has never disappeared from sales since its release in 1865, there is still a bookstore at Pärnu mnt 10 despite the twists and turns of history.

The good old bookstore now has a stylish café and a cozy place where you can have nice conversations while sipping coffee and cognac. On the basement floor - in the rabbit burrow - you can enjoy books as well as various events.

As a result of smart space planning, the number of bookshelves has by no means decreased; just the other way round, some book category has even been given more space. Both new and used books are still available, and browsing them is now much more enjoyable. In interior design, we have paid tribute to the house designed by Eliel Saarinen - by combining a contemporary shopping environment and an Art Nouveau style of the stately building.

With us, you can start the day, enjoy a delicious treat while reading a book, meet before a theater performance, lose yourself between bookshelves, attend exciting meetings, and gather for a cup of tea or a glass of wine in the evening to muse over the goings-on of the day. And the book that everyone talks about - or vice versa, that no one has ever heard of - is still available at your favorite store.

It’s been a long time coming, but in August 2015 Rahva Raamat finally arrived in Rakvere, to the joy of all local book lovers. Bringing Rahva Raamat to the town took quite a while. As we were spinning the pedals on our way from Tallinn, it occurred to us that the bike had to find a place in this store where it could be guarded by tiny replicas of the Rakvere Aurochs statue. The bicycle symbolising the long journey and the small book-loving “offspring” of the famous Rakvere Aurochs statue became the centrepiece of the shop’s interior design. Besides guarding the bike, they fulfil an important task of guiding customers to the newest and top books in addition to gifts that have taken Rahva Raamat by storm as a new product family. The materials and colours used in the shop interior are soft and light. The room is dominated by the wood of goods shelves, the carpet spreading like a green field, and fabric panels. Although the Rakvere Rahva Raamat store is the baby of our chain as far as its size goes, there are as many books as there are stones in the Rakvere castle walls. There are quiet reading corners under soft knitted canopies, and helpful shop assistants will be glad to help you at the bookshelves any time.
