On his travels he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alex Guinness) who vows to teach Luke how to be a Jedi. When they discover that the princess has been kidnapped, they team up with smuggler Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Wookie Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and droids C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) in a bid to rescue her and ultimately aid the rebellion.
