Latin America is characterized by the persistence of inequality and poverty caused partly by policies of the Washington Consensus. However, Ecuador, Brazil and Mexico have instituted different concepts of social and economic development during the 2008 global crisis. The case of Mexico is a different one as it keeps continuing neoliberal policies.
