Art Rules

The publication “Art Rules” was published in connection with the art exhibition of great European masters at the Tallinn Town Hall in 2015. The exhibition presented nearly 100 original artworks from great 15th–17th century European masters from Germany and the Netherlands, including Peter Paul Rubens, Pieter and Jan Brueghel, Lucas Cranach, Albrecht Dürer, David Teniers, Jakob van Hulsdonck, Jackob Savery, Jan Massys, etc. The works came from private collections all over the world. The publication introduces the most outstanding works from this exhibition and their respective authors. The book does not pretend to be a complex scientific analysis of art, but rather a professional, yet simple and emotionally graspable read about the perceptions of renaissance art from Germany and the Netherlands. The text accompanying the illustrations mainly serves to open up the stories, morals and aesthetics included within the artworks by the great masters, in the form of a valuable experience from history, while also helping us to relate to it in the modern day.
